Financial Support

The ministry of CBS is supported by contributions from the community. Although there is no set charge for the course, the approximate cost to CBS for each adult in a 30-week class is $80. This includes a $20 registration fee and about $2 a week to cover the cost of materials and operating expenses at our National Service Center in Colorado Springs, CO. When a class member contributes more than $80 during a class year, the IRS will recognize that additional amount as tax-deductible and a receipt is sent from the National Service Center.

All giving in Community Bible Study is voluntary so that class members unable to contribute may freely attend. We never want anyone to feel pressured to give, and class members able to do so will give more to cover the costs of operating this ministry. CBS is nondenominational, with the leadership of each class coming from the local area and representing a broad cross-section of the Christian community. CBS leaders, from the local classes to the national level, are volunteers who receive no monetary compensation. CBS also provides leadership training and materials for newly developed classes long before they can cover their own expenses.

Community Bible Study is a member of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA) and conducts a yearly audit using the services of an outside auditing firm. Every year since its inception, CBS has received a clean audit. We consider good stewardship of contributed funds a responsibility and privilege and seek to use contributions wisely to further the understanding of God's Word.

Community Bible Study classes are reaching every age group: men, women, teenagers, and children. We have a wonderful opportunity to invest in the lives of future generations as we continue to make available this study of God's Word and fulfill our mission "to make disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ in our communities through caring, in-depth Bible Study available to all."
