Get Connected to your bible study

There are several ways to get connected and become a part of our Community Bible Study family. You can join a Bible study class, or prayerfully consider starting a Bible study class if there’s none in your community. You can also pray with us or subscribe to our newsletter.

Find a Bible study class

We want you to find a CBS Bible study class and get connected to others in your community. Whether you live in the United States or Tanzania, our classes really are designed for anyone and everyone. [find a class]

Find a class in the United States

Classes meet once a week, for about two hours. They start in mid-August and end in May – roughly the same as the school year.  Many Community Bible Study classes schedule seasonal breaks around Christmas and/or Easter to coincide with local school calendars.

Find a Bible study class outside the United States

Malawi, Nepal, Australia, Singapore, India, Israel and Ecuador – these are just a few of the countries where you’ll find a Community Bible Study presence. Our international ministry will be able to help you find a class, or show you how to start a class if there isn’t one near you.

Find a prayer group

If you didn’t find a CBS class in your area, you might find a CBS prayer group close by. Prayer groups are groups of people who have committed to pray together to start a CBS class. [find a prayer group]

The first step in the creation of a CBS class is an informal community prayer group made up of people from various church backgrounds who want a Bible study in their neighborhood.

The group should pray for two things: first, the Lord’s will and direction in starting a class, and two, for the following leaders to show themselves: a Teaching Director, an Associate Teaching Director, a Coordinator, and a Children’s Director (for classes that plan to offer a Children’s Ministry). Remember, no one should be forced to do anything; all those involved should feel called by the Lord to launch the new class.

The group should meet regularly to pray for the Lord’s will and direction in starting a class and for called leaders for the class. The group may also engage in an informal Bible study if appropriate.

Start a class

We want everyone to be able to study the Word of God, but sometimes it just so happens that there isn’t a Community Bible Study class in your area. In that case, perhaps you’re being called to initiate one. We’ll guide you through the process. [start a class]

If you would like to know more about beginning a CBS class in your community, you may request an information kit. This kit contains materials on Community Bible Study, the CBS Children’s Ministry, samples of the adult and children’s lessons, and a list of study courses. After you have had an opportunity to review the materials in the information kit, we’ll follow up with you. If you’re still interested, an Area Director will be in touch with you to walk with you along the journey.

You’ll see from the information kit that the first step is to begin an informal community prayer group made up of people from various church backgrounds who want a Bible study in their neighborhood.

The group should pray for two things: first, the Lord’s will and direction in starting a class, and two, for the following leaders to show themselves: a Teaching Director, an Associate Teaching Director, Prayer (reduced size)a Coordinator, and a Children’s Director (for classes that plan to offer a Children’s Ministry). Remember, no one should be forced to do anything; all those involved should feel called by the Lord to launch the new class.

The group should meet regularly to pray and may begin an informal Bible study if appropriate. Next, a CBS Area Director or Area Representative will be in touch with you to provide support and direction. When the Area Director feels the group is ready and when the key leaders, who must come from different churches, have been identified, they will be recommended for Leadership Training.

This training is hosted twice a year in Colorado Springs, CO. At the conclusion of Leadership Training, the team will be commissioned and will return home to continue the process of starting a class. We look forward to partnering with what the Lord is doing in your community!
