Psalm 63:1-4

O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you;
my soul thirsts for you;
my flesh faints for you,
as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary,
beholding your power and glory.
Because your steadfast love is better than life,
my lips will praise you.
So I will bless you as long as I live;
in your name I will lift up my hands.

O God our God, as this new year begins, may Your strength renew us and may our souls thirst for You. In a dry and weary world, we confess our deep need for You, our Living Water. We come to You with open hands, expectantly awaiting Your power and glory to be made known around us this year. Instill in us an understanding that your steadfast love is so much better than life, which is fleeting. We pray that You would create in us a longing to pursue You and You alone. Father, help us to choose praise over striving and trust over fear. As this year unfolds, help us to sacrificially and unconditionally love, as a response to Your great love for us. In Your Name – Amen.
