Hebrews 12:1–2

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.”

Father, thank You for the faithful men and women who have gone before us, who trusted Your Word and boldly shared Your Gospel. Their lives remind us that You are faithful in every generation. Help us follow their example, holding fast to Your truth and handing it on to those who come after us.

Lord, as we gather around Your Word each week, show us the weights and sins that hinder us in the race, whatever they may be—including distractions, fears, and busyness. Give us the courage to lay them aside. Form us into disciples who run with endurance, not in our own strength, but in Yours.

Jesus, we fix our eyes on You, the founder and perfecter of our faith. When our focus drifts, draw our gaze to the One who endured the cross for the joy set before Him and now reigns at the Father’s right hand.

We lift up the participants and leaders who make up CBS communities across the globe, young and old, from many nations, languages, and walks of life. Strengthen those serving in hard places and those who feel weary in the race. Multiply disciples through Your Word, and let Your church run together, faithful to the end.

In Jesus’s name, Amen.
