CBS puts the caring in in-depth Bible study

India

It’s hard to have hope when you are young and bedridden. After an active childhood and graduating from school, Enosh suddenly found himself paralyzed from the waist down. The doctors in his remote village in Odisha, India, were unable to help him. College and career plans were shattered.

During the pandemic, he joined an Odia-language online CBS group. The people prayed for him and encouraged him, helping him grow in his faith.

When he started missing classes, the group leaders checked on him, and learned he didn’t have money to buy data for his phone so he could participate. They gave him 1,000 rupees (about $12) to recharge his phone.

Enosh was wise. He recharged his phone but saved part of the money to buy a chick. He nurtured it and sold it to buy more chicks. He now has seven laying hens, and his micro-business is providing an income for him.

When the CBS group participants heard his testimony, some of them helped Enosh buy a poultry cage and other things to expand his business.

Thanks to God’s blessing, Enosh now can walk holding on to a big stick and can go short distances without the stick.
